The best way of getting out of check is for white to take the bishop with his knight Nxa5 as in diagram 16 Black would probably recapture the knight with his pawn but since a knight and a bishop are approximately equal in value this is a fair exchange.
White could also get out of check by playing Nc3 but the bishop would simply take the knight and white would be in check again.  White could also interpose his queen Qd2 but the black bishop would then capture the queen.
